I was very honoured on May 5th 2022 to not only receive an honorary doctorate in literature from the National University of Ireland, in a ceremony at the Royal College of Physicians in Dublin, but to share the occasion with three very distinguished people who were receiving similar doctorates. The wonderful Marie Heaney who was also receiving a doctorate in literature; Alex Klein who received a doctorate in music and Frank Gannon who received a doctorate in science. My sincere thanks to the Senate of the National University and most especially to its Chancellor, Dr Maurice Manning, and to Professor Joseph Brady who introduced my work to the audience.
